Profile
Dr. Buday is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and
has been practicing psychiatry for 18 years in Michigan. She earned her undergraduate
degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and her Osteopathic Medical
Degree from Nova Southeastern University. She attended residency programs at
Grand Rapids Metropolitan Hospital and Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. In addition,
she has a Master’s Degree in Public Health.
Initially starting her own practice in Traverse City, Dr. Buday gained extensive
experience with general adult psychiatry. Part of her practice supported
the Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Initiative, working with a team to prevent criminal
recidivism in parolees. Later, as an independent psychiatric consultant in metro Detroit,
Dr. Buday became involved in the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, and this
along with her osteopathic background, helped shape her wholistic stance on mental
health. She has also participated in clinical trials research and medical writing, staying
on the cutting edge of emerging medicines.
Dr. Buday has also worked at Caro State Hospital, supporting long-term management of
severely mentally ill inpatients while helping others to successfully transition back into
the community. Most recently, Dr. Buday provided psychopharmacology services for
the Michigan Department of Corrections, managing inmate patients with co-occurring
disorders, supporting their stability as they complete their sentences. While working as
a prison psychiatrist, Dr. Buday also served as a Supervising Psychiatrist to psychiatric
nurse practitioners and she served as an Attending Physician to psychiatry residents
from MSU and Wayne State, allowing her trainees the unique experience of an elective
in corrections psychiatry.
Dr. Buday is a member of the Neuroscience Education Institute and regularly attends
NEI Global CME events. She has 8 semesters of experience teaching undergraduate
psychology (Introductory and Abnormal) at Schoolcraft College. She is also a licensed
Foster Parent with the state of Michigan and the proud parent of 2 sons. She enjoys
exercise, meditation, animals, and home improvement. She is a native metro Detroiter,
and she and her husband are avid Detroit Piston’s fans (yes, even during the 23-24
